Historical Jerome County Idaho
26th Annual Live History Days! September 11 and 12, 2010
Welcome to the Jerome County Historical Society web page. We want to
take you on a visual tour of the history of Jerome County. Sit back and
find out what life was like 100 years ago in this high desert area of
South Central Idaho.
We hope you will visit our Idaho Farm and Ranch Agricultural Museum
at the crossroads of U.S. 93 and Interstate 84. Here are many fine
specimens of old farm equipment and original buildings from the
surrounding area. We have an exhibit from the World War II Minidoka
Japanese Relocation Camp that was located at Hunt, Idaho, in Jerome
County.
Live History Day is held on a Saturday during the summer months each year with many people portraying life at the turn of the century in Jerome County. On the Sunday following is a non-denominational church service at 11 a.m. at the Canyonside Church building at the IFARM, with a bring-your-own picknic lunch to follow on the grassy area nearby. The rest of the year special tours are available by calling the museum office at 208-324-5641 during business hours or email us.
At the present time we also have a museum in the town of Jerome
which has bound newspapers, pictures, and many other articles from the
beginning of the town in 1908. In the near future we wish to move this
museum to the IFARM.
Be sure to catch Live History Days next year! September 11 and 12, 2010.
